I've got Craft Fever!!!

Wednesday, May 27, 2009

Ok so it's summer time, school is out, and I am being hit with craft fever! All I want to do is crafts!!! I really enjoyed doing wood crafts with my sister-in-law's Ruth & Meredith on Memorial day! It was nice working together, throwing around ideas and chatting! (pictures coming soon) I have now started another project unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it yet... because it is a surprise for my neice Avery's 1st birthday. I am super excited about this one and can't wait to share it with you all! I have decided that it will be what I do for all of my neices for thier birthdays this year! (I will be in contact with Meredith when it get's closer to her girls' birthdays this fall.) I have already picked out my next project for the middle of June and I am soo excited about this one! I have to thank my brother David for this idea! I was sitting here thinking about him and what to eat for dinner tonight... and I thought of his amazingly wonderful, divinely delicious-- South Carolina Bar-B-Que Sauce and our pulled pork dinner! YUM-O! So I thought that it would be fun to do a BBQ Sampler night... I found some recipes online that sound good- one is from Georgia another is from South Carolina and another one I am not sure of it's roots- it sounds like a mix of Georgia/ South Carolina. I thought that I would share them with all y'all who aren't going to be here for that even! I hope that you enjoy!!!! (PS- this will probley be Levi's home teaching treat too...good for both guys and girls!)

Frozen Food Flop

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

So... Levi and I had an interesting experience this last month... I had a coupon for one of those Birds Eye Dinners for Two, that you are suppose to just throw in the mircrowave and go. I thought it would be the perfect dinner since we were both working on our final papers and studying for final exams. I bought the Roasted Garlic Chicken flavor- threw it in the mircowave- the flavor was great and it actually made alot of food! We previously bought the Bertolli dinner at mid-terms and were disappointed that for $8.00 you got nothing other than 600 calories. (TOTALLY NOT WORTH IT!) After we finished eating we were both amazed that there was only 325 calories in the serving- it seriously tasted like their should be more! This is not a "run-out-and-buy" testimonial- this is more a "buyer-beware" testimonial. At about 10 pm Levi started saying he wasn't feeling so well, I didn't think much of it because nothing was wrong with me. ha ha ha... Well.. the next morning - it hit with full force vengence. We both ended up with food poisoning from it. I went to Birds Eye's website the next day and reported the situation and until yesterday I hadn't heard anything back. Which is why I am mentioning it now... yesterday in the mail I recieved an envelope from them. I opened it up and found a "Thank You" card. THEY SENT ME A THANK YOU CARD... SHOULDN'T IT BE A "WE'RE SORRY" CARD???? "WE'RE SORRY YOU GOT FOOD POISONING AFTER EATING OUT PRODUCT" CARD???? "WE'RE SORRY THAT THE QUALITY OF OUR PRODUCT WAS NOT TO THE SPECIFICATIONS AND CLAIMS MADE IN OUR ADVERTIZMENTS" CARD??? (yeah that last one was stretching it (thank you to my advertising and promotions class this last semester, I can now b.s. when it comes to product advertising.) :) ) But seriously. The inside of the card reads- "Thank you for taking the time to contact Birds Eye Foods. We appreciate the time you took to give us your comments and suggestions." There is no appology for the fact that the both of us got food poisoning. Included in the envelope were 4 coupons for free Birds Eye products. HMMMM.... how tempting is it for me to use these coupons now.... Let me think. I am honestly not upset at this point... I think that it is rather funny, ridiculous, and it just makes me laugh at them! :) So i guess I am saying that if you are in the mood for a fast at home dinner that will cost you $5 and you decide to try one of their frozen dinners for two--- BEWARE and pray that you don't get food poisoning later, because if you do... all you will get is a "Thank You" card and 4 coupons for free food.
